New Year's Resolutions 2017!

Hey guys!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Let us all hope that this year will be better than the last, despite Donald Trump's looming presidency. I actually feel oddly excited for the months to come, like something good and exciting will actually happen to me. I normally feel quite sad at this time, mourning the previous 12 months. Perhaps it's different because 2016 was such a party-pooping idiot.

Anyway, as I'm sure most people will have, I have set a couple new year's resolutions. When I say a couple, I, of course, mean 11. This may sound like a lot for some of you, but I am actually going to try to work on each of these goals throughout the year and perhaps something will come of it somehow.

Anyway, I should probably get into what they actually are:

1) Do the best I can in school

This is pretty self-explanatory. I seriously feel as though my grades are slipping since I joined my school and I really need to get a grip on them again so that I can do the best I can and have all the opportunities possible for me.

2) Learn Spanish

I know that this is a little out there and, trust me, I don't expect myself to be a fluent Spanish speaker by the end of the year. This goal exists simply to push me to really focus on learning Spanish so that I can really progress in the language because I love the country which I visit almost every year with my family.

3) Sustain my blog

Now this is a goal you will have heard before! I really do want to commit to this blog and post frequently and grow the blog out a little bit because I have been terrible at that in the past. But it's a new year and a fresh start. Who knows what could happen?

4) Read 50 books

This is my Goodreads goal for the year of 2017. It was my goal for last year too but I'm going to keep it the same because I have the feeling that I'll be a lot busier this year.

5) Try learning to play a musical instrument

Long story short: I don't play any musical instrument. And I would like to. Yeah, basically. If anyone has any ideas of a good instrument for someone who hasn't ever played an instrument before and can't read sheet music, please tell because I have no idea what I'm doing with this really!

6) Learn to code

I just think that it would be super cool to know how to code games and websites and cool stuff like that so I'm going to try and learn a new skill. We've been doing some at school so I feel really intrigued and really want to be able to make my own suff!

7) Take up photography

Okay so this is something I considered sometime last year too. I would really love to be a photographer but the trouble is... I am terrible at taking photos. And I don't have a decent camera - only a polaroid that costs a fortune to restock with film. Even my phone's camera is rubbish, but I should be getting a new one soon. Perhaps if I practice enough, I'll get better. Perhaps.

8) Save up money

Yeah, I'm kinda broke. There's no way I can buy anything that I just want. I have to save up for ages to buy one issue of a magazine. It's unfortunate. But I'm doing a money saving challenge so that every day of the year, I put in the amount of pennies of that day. For example, today I'll put in 1p, tomorrow 2p and so on. It's supposed to give you a real chunk of change at the end. Meanwhile, I'll be doing a ton of chores to earn some extra cash. It should work out fine.

9) Become a writer

When I say this, I mean someone who writes regularly - there's no way I could publish a book or anything! I really do love creative writing and really want to get better and practice it every day. This year I am going to do that and it should hopefully benefit me and my writing.

10) Be creative

I'm not actually a very creative person. I can't just think up ideas by myself - I have to be inspired or given the ideas right into my hands. I really want to give my imagination a workout by engaging in creative projects throughout the year. Perhaps by the end, I'll be more creative!

11) Adopt a healthy lifestyle

And here it is, the one on everyone's list. To be healthy. I'm actually going to try and stick at it though: sweets only every other day, workout twice a week, eat more fruit... Yeah. I think I can do it.

So those are my new year's resolutions. It is quite a lot actually, now I look back on it, but I'm going to try to complete each one and sustain them throughout the year.

What are your resolutions and how are you going to maintain them? I bet you don't have as many as I do!

Anyhow, I hope everyone has a wondrous new year full of growth, happiness and dreams.

Happy blogging,
Bubblegum (Hazel) x
